Thanks to a paperless initiative undertaken by UHY Advisors and UHY LLP, many clients will notice a disappearance of paper returns during tax season as an electronic forms processing system has been implemented. The conversion was made in an effort to go green and provide more efficient options for clients.
The firm has significantly reduced the amount of paper they use, especially during the busy tax season. About 95 percent of returns were sent out electronically, and customers received copies of their documents burned onto CDs, according to the company. This not only reduced the amount of overflowing cabinets in the accountant’s quarters but it also helped the clients to be more organized in their record keeping.
“A number of clients prefer the electronic copies over paper, because their file cabinets are getting full of old returns,” according to Todd Bensley, Managing Director and National Tax Director. “Electronic copies take up much less space. Plus, most of them were scanning and saving their paper files and making their own electronic copies anyways, so this just saved them a step.”
