Storing paper wastes space, costs a lot, and can’t be searched. Long term storage of scanned paper and digital files (Reports, MS Office, video, audio, graphics, CT scans, MRIs, X-Rays) on hard disk or tape wastes primary disk space and slows backups. ProStor InfiniVault combines information management software, online disk, and RDX removable disks in a single box… a scalable storage appliance. Removable RDX disks are 2.5-inch mobile disk drives housed in a shock-proof casing. They can be inserted into a slot and operate just like a normal disk drive or put on a shelf for off-line storage just like traditional tape or optical drive backups or older data. InfiniVault provides the benefits of removable media with the performance advantages of disk in a single architecture.
InfiniVault is used as a less expensive, easer, compliant replacement for tape, optical, disk, and NAS for long term storage. It is also used to replace tape backups since it is faster, easier, and cheaper in the long run. Automated Retention/Compliance
Business rules for retention and compliance are set thru a simple screen via InfiniVault’s software. Compliance functions include: WORM disks, Content Addressable Storage to verify your data’s authenticity, Retention & Deletion policies, Encrypted removable media, Audit trails, eDiscovery support, Secure deletes, and Rapid recovery of files. Data requiring different policies are isolated within separate vaults.

InfiniVault provides a lower-cost alternative to Tape, Optical, and NAS storage for online archival storage… 2x less than tape, 4x less than optical & 40x less than fixed disk. Like NAS, InfiniVault is an affordable disk alternative that appears as an easy-to-use file system on the network. Unlike NAS, InfiniVault includes all the data management automation required to comply with compliance or corporate governance regulations (see Automated Retention/Compliance). Furthermore, for data or documents that must be retained electronically for longer than 3 years, the InfiniVault provides dramatically lower costs since the removable RDX drives have a 30-7ear lifespan. So, unlike NAS, Tape or Optical, your InfiniVault won’t need to be replaced every 3-5 years with the additional expense and complexity of migrating.

With up to 100 RDX cartridges online and an infinite number offline, a ProStor InfiniVault Model 100 System can manage over 2 Billion studies in DICOM format. A 100 slot system with 1TB RDX cartridges can store 100,000 Multi-slice CT scans or 500,000 MRIs or 2,000,000 X-Rays. Similarly, the same system can store 12,594 standard or 9,773 HDTV broadcast streams or 1,527 uncompressed 1 hour standard video segments or 245 uncompressed HDTV segments.
Faster, Easier Restore & Backups:
The RDX media is a disk drive that operates just like a tape drive but sustains up to 45MB-per-second data transfer rate and can support data backups of over 100GB per hour. Unlike tape, the RDX media is randomly accessed so stored files can be immediately retrieved without the time-consuming sequential seeks of tape technology. Single files and selected volumes can be restored in seconds instead of hours. InfiniVault can automatically make up to four copies of data and replicate between systems for maximum protection – data can be held online and on removable RDX drives for greater flexibility. InfiniVault also includes a data verifier, making sure your data is actually there on the backup – Something tape cannot do, so you’re never sure if a tape backup is good!
