The maturation process of eDiscovery has taken shape over the past few years, and more businesses may look to adopt this software into their workflows. Ajith Samuel wrote for CMSWire that no one can ever be sure what trends will come in the next year, but he believes there are a few that could be especially important for businesses. One is an increased adoption of analytics technology within companies.
“Emerging analytics technology, like machine learning, can aid in quickly identifying and categorizing potentially relevant documents,” he wrote. “However, existing ‘predictive’ tools are typically applied after collection and processing costs have been incurred.”
Another trend could be more conversations over potential rule and law changes. Organizations that are under heavy compliance rules always need to keep this in mind, but businesses with newly minted eDiscovery processes may have to look at laws they hadn’t before since this is a recently mature technology.
Whether a business deals with minor bouts of litigation every year or is frequently in court, eDiscovery software from Binary Office can be easily integrated into the organization’s workflow and improve efficiency. Simplicity and return on investment are two of the other benefits of this software, as everyone in the legal department will be able to more easily do their work with this tool in place.
Don’t fall into the group of businesses that incorrectly utilize eDiscovery software. A recent report by Osterman Research found that 74 percent believe that retaining electronic records is important, but 87 percent don’t see their enterprises as being well-equipped to handle this.
“There is a growing burden on IT departments and legal counsel to respond to the increasing urgency of eDiscovery requirements in organizations of all sizes,” said Michael Osterman.
